Our vineyard on the side of the mountain.
Our vines are spread out on the south and south-west sides of 'La Savoyarde', a mountains which is part of the Bauges. Each family's vineyard is split up , and ours is no exception. The total surface area covers 10 hectares of vines, of which 4 are jacquère, 3 are Roussane/Bergeron and 3 are Mondeuse, Gamay and Pinot Noir.
The areas planted with 'Roussane' grapes , giving the famous Chignin-Bergeron, are on the most southern sides of la Savoyarde ( see photo below). These steep slopes, only recently recultivated, overlook the town of Montmélian and its surroundings. Cultivated for centuries, they had been abandonned because of the difficulty of access and work. |
